Nazism, which was defeated in 1945 by the Soviet soldier, successfully preserved and reproduced itself in a non-diminished form through taking the contemporary Western elites under control. In contrast, Russia, which confronted it, abandoned its triumphant mobilization-oriented system, which depleted its spirit and collapsed the Soviet Union, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on May 9 in his address on the anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Why did postwar Russia lose its spirit that had led it to the Victory of 1945? Can the Russians today repeat the heroic deed of their predecessors? These were the key topics in the address of the leader of the Essence of Time movement.
Kurginyan stressed that today, when everything is much more exacerbated than it was before the catastrophe of 1990s, following the trend of “a moderately decent good country,” relaxed way of life, and nostalgia for “integration into the West” becomes a deadly threat for Russia.
Nazism, according to Kurginyan, is not just a political movement, it is a metaphysical and occult phenomenon. It is much deeper, fiercer, meaner, more resilient, and larger than ordinary people could think.
“The Soviet Union was defeated not by the CIA or NATO… or ‘absurdity of the planned economy’ that sounds ridiculous today. The Soviet Union was defeated by the depletion of spirit inside it and the advance of the Nazi darkness, which managed, having been defeated by the great Soviet soldier, to retreat in a systemic manner and to maintain the darkness of its spirit, to reproduce and promote it, to infiltrate into the entire system actually taking it under control, to defeat the USSR, and to keep moving to its ultimate victory, in which the Ukrainian events are just a minor phase,” the political scientist says.
Kurginyan reminded that at a referendum of 1993 the population of post-Soviet Russia voted against the mobilization-oriented system that could win in a war, willing to integrate into the “exclusively wise and fair bourgeois world,” a trend that began long before the collapse of the Soviet Union.
He stressed that, in order to defeat the resurgent enemy, which will destroy us in a merciless manner if it defeats Russia, our country needs another kind of an army, industry, economy, another way of social life, ideology, and culture. First of all, our country needs an army combined with defense industry. But spirit, readiness to sacrifice, way of life – all that must be different and mobilization-oriented.
“There is no need to copy the Soviet [system], but we must borrow very much from it… We cannot keep talking about our great Victory while leaving aside the Soviet period as a whole… When you remove these links the chain falls apart. We cannot, living in a time that is out of joint, mobilize for a metaphysical war while we have no metaphysics. And this is where ideology is not enough. Even the formally agnostic Soviet society went to combat with a song titled ‘Sacred War,’” Sergey Kurginyan reminds.
The political scientist stressed that the extent and strength of spirit in our country after the war were depleting among growing tinselry, pomposity, and “routine optimism” of the late Brezhnev regime, i. e. the period that gave rise to “the imposthume of much wealth and peace.”
For Russia today, in the current circumstances, falling into something very similar to the late Brezhnev time is a deadly threat, Sergey Kurginyan warns.
“The Soviet Union had major flaws, and the greatest of them is the fact that it collapsed. But it was adequate to surviving. What we have now, in contrast, is based on the assumption that we will be left alone. I swear, we will not! It is already obvious from what is taking place in the world that they are ready to attack us. The only question is how far they are ready to go,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement warns.
