A multipolar world can hardly be imagined when brutal force is claimed to play a critical role, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on February 7 on the Right to Know program on TVC.
According to the analyst, Vladimir Lenin’s work Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism is one of his most valuable works, especially because in this work, which is typical of him and Karl Marx, he often refers to something else instead of claiming to be the inventor of his own discoveries. In this book, Lenin refers to the works by economist Rudolf Hilferding, and he discusses new and old imperialist powers.
“It is fundamental, it is solid, and I think it remains relevant. Thus, there is always an old imperialist power, e.g. the UK, and a new one, Germany. Then some roads like Berlin – Bagdad or some ‘great silk ways’ or something else appears. And every time it happens the same way when the contradictions cannot be resolved without a war, and this is called ‘unevenness of development in imperialism,’” Sergey Kurginyan said.
According to the political scientist, with all the adjustments for contemporary world, these constants maintain, because the US is an old imperialist power and China is a new one, never mind how communist it is.
“Can the world be so ‘multi-lateral’ at the same time? I think this is one of the greatest problems because when we say, ‘Well, it will be multipolar, and everything will be fine,’ I answer, ‘Oh yes, it will be fine that not only major powers will fight but also some Somali and Uganda, right? All against each other,’” the analyst said.
He noted that the critical role of force is widely discussed today, which no one in the history of the world ever did so blatantly. And under these circumstances, when brutal force is relied on, in his opinion, a multipolar world can hardly be imagined.
“The point is that, if China keeps going its current way, then, as it was said in one of the Soviet films, ‘if I stand up you will lie down.’ And this law of communicating vessels remains relevant: if China stands up the US will lie down,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
The political scientist reminded about the wide discussion of a wonderful US national security strategy (where Russia is not called an enemy or threat anymore) that US President Donald Trump published, and he noted that he did not agree with this opinion. According to the analyst, Trump always pulls the wool over someone’s eyes, as many other people do, so we must not take it all literally.
“The question is when this pompous outrage goes against us. When the secretary of defense, a UK official, says he would like to seize someone more important than the president of Venezuela, what is that? Is this a new style they have now? Where are we going, indeed? This is really very dangerous. I mean it, it is dangerous in a practical sense and every day,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
