Only Maduro’s guards, and no one else, could seize him in his own bedroom, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on January 23 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
Kurginyan pointed out a number of questions and inconsistencies in the situation with the “seizure” of Maduro in his residence by the US.
“He was seized in his, so to say, sleeping suit. Reportedly, right in the bed. The question is how? Whenever anything like that happens, additional circumstances are involved,” the political scientist stressed.
He explained that the situation with Maduro is not as simple as people unfamiliar with such issues may expect. As an example Kurginyan referred to the well-known incident when Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov turned around his governmental flight to Washington over the Atlantic in 1999 after NATO began to bomb Yugoslavia.
Sergey Kurginyan noted that an airplane is not a car that can be simply turned around by the steering wheel. To turn a plane around, even if it is a governmental flight, requires multiple procedures such as corridor request etc., otherwise it will be shot down. The same applies to the situation with Maduro’s arrest in his own bedroom. Maduro is not a regular citizen, he is the president. His arrest in his own bedroom by foreign special operation forces is something absolutely impossible without “additional circumstances.”
“He is the president of quite a large state, and he is protected. There is nothing more unpleasant that being protected. It is awful. Because in a sense your life has to be public. Including any private and intimate aspects,” Kurginyan said.
He added that in this sense a president is only vulnerable to his security service. Any scenarios of threats against the president are addressed. There are shelters, and the personal security team exercises evacuation procedures for any unexpected situations to be ready to evacuate the protected person in seconds.
“How could Delta seize him? They must have fired back for at least some seconds. Within these seconds, the guards must take him and then follow their instructions regardless what he wants,” the political scientist noted.
Then the president is taken to a shelter that must be locked mechanically, without electric power. Further, the enemy faces more obstacles: “You can use a welder or a cavity charge. This gives more time to take him away by another five hundred meters and so on.”
“I sincerely apologize for the fact that I have, at least in a public broadcast, to use such a reconstruction kind of analysis. It can be aggravated by some details etc., and it is all a great mess. Who knows what can happen! But, within a reconstruction kind of a model, I can tell one thing: it is only their guards that could seize them right in their beds. From the technical point of view. Before them they are helpless. As long as the security service is functional and resisting, nothing of what is discussed here is possible,” Kurginyan stressed.
