The development of Rosatom’s Proryv project will become the foundation for future global nuclear energy, said State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom CEO Aleksey Likhachev on January 21 at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
According to the CEO, the general plan provides not only for an increase in physical output, but also for a transition to the fourth generation — fast-neutron reactors.
“This is a gigawatt-scale capacity of fast reactors that no one has yet managed to achieve,” Likhachev emphasized.
Construction of the BN-1200 reactor has begun at the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant. In addition, the construction of an entire fourth-generation energy complex is planned in Seversk, Tomsk Region, which will become a key element in the development of global nuclear power.
