Russia condemns statements by US officials about the possibility of strikes against Iran, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told journalists on January 13.
“We resolutely condemn subversive external interference in Iran’s domestic political processes,” Zakharova said in response to a journalist’s request to comment on the situation in Iran.
She emphasized that threats coming from Washington to use force are unacceptable. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted the Iranian authorities’ readiness for constructive dialogue.
Zakharova expressed hope for a stabilization of the situation, pointing out a decline in protest activity.
Iranian authorities reported the arrest of the main instigators of the unrest. According to Tehran, the protests in the country were supported from abroad.
