Russia is at risk that its southern underbelly will be mobilized against it, political scientist, philosopher, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on November 14 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.
“Do the Central Asian elites want to study Chinese? Let them do so! But this, perhaps, will help with some kind of positioning on the periphery of the great Chinese civilization, or maybe it won’t. It depends,” the analyst said.
The political scientist also pointed out that if Tajikistan wants the Grey Wolves, the far right terrorist organization, to gain influence inside the country borders, it should remember that “vovchiki” (a colloquial term for Islamic fundamentalists in the former Soviet Union) have already been there.
“Does the President of Tajikistan, who I deeply sympathize with since the times of the civil war and his Kulyab past, want the Grey Wolves in his country? For the ‘vovchiki’ to return?! And they will. And the US will not come to the rescue, as Afghanistan demonstrated,” Sergey Kurginyan noted.
He emphasized that there are many processes currently taking place simultaneously, “The UK wants to influence the situation in Central Asia. Turkey also wants influence, and the US is already prepared to support Turkey. The US always rob and expects flattery. The Chinese are watching all this, and they won’t miss the chance. Russia also doesn’t want the emergence of a southern soft underbelly mobilized against it. Well, it would be strange if it were otherwise. We support peace in the world. Didn’t we already give enough money to our brothers in Ukraine, so they could use it to cultivate Banderites against us?” the political scientist said.
According to him, now, the bell is calling not only for the peoples in the Central Asian states, but also for others who can take a closer look at what is happening in the region known as Russia’s southern underbelly.
