In order to improve the situation in Russia, it is necessary to awaken the instinct of self-preservation within the ruling class, political scientist, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on November 19 during a question-and-answer session following his presentation “New Global Trends and Their Impact on Our Country.” Sergey Kurginyan spoke at the plenary session of the 20th International Congress “Health as the Basis of Human Potential. Problems and Solutions,” which took place in St. Petersburg between November 18-22.
When answering the question regarding communications strategies that need to be employed to reach the Russian ruling class and bring about significant positive changes in Russia, Kurginyan noted that he has said more than once, at the highest official levels, that the entire conflict is a conflict between “the neurosis of well-being and the self-preservation instinct.”
This “neurosis of well-being” manifests itself in the fact that the Russian authorities convey the idea that all is well in Russia, both to themselves and to the public: peaceful cities live peaceful lives, festivals are held, restaurants are open, the capital’s sidewalks are paved with new pavers, and flowerbeds are planted with flowers.
“No matter how much television you watch, a neurosis of well-being dominates everything. Just don’t you dare tell us anything bad. No, no, everything is wonderful. The main principle of the elites is that everything is covered with chocolate for them. Sometimes I even see this chocolate in my dreams. You start a conversation. They reply to you, ‘Everything is covered with chocolate.’ What chocolate? In what sense?” Kurginyan asked.
According to Kurginyan, the situation will change if the “self-preservation instinct” is awakened in the ruling class.
“So, if the self-preservation instinct, rather than conscience, can be awakened, with the help of the intellectual class, then perhaps some changes will occur,” Kurginyan suggested.
However, the self-preservation instinct must be awakened in such a way that members of the ruling class actively begin to improve the situation, rather than panicking and trying to activate the nuclear button.
“The goal is to break down their neurotic barrier in such a way that the deconstruction doesn’t lead to pressing the red button, but rather awakens their mind!” Kurginyan said.
