Politicians who pose as peacemakers are the most dangerous warmongers, philosopher, political scientist, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.
Under the administration of President Donald Trump, who calls himself a peacemaker and has been a contender for the Nobel Peace Prize, the Ukrainian conflict has escalated to such an extent that civilians are dying while being hundreds of kilometers away from the front line, the political scientist pointed out. For example, on September 29, in Voskresensk, near Moscow, a grandmother and grandson were killed in a drone attack.
Kurginyan emphasized that since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, he has rejected any confrontation towards the Russian authorities, as such confrontation amounts to playing into the enemy’s hand. But when a grandmother and grandson die in the Moscow region, or civilians die on Russian soil, it’s impossible to convince the population that such incidents are part of Russia’s special military operation.
“And when holes due to the missiles strikes appear in Moscow, will that also should be called special military operation? It has happened in Tel Aviv. They thought it was impossible. Then the question arises: isn’t this war a matter of Russia’s survival?” he emphasized.
In this regard, calling the US president a desirable dialogue partner is only possible if Russian diplomats “playing political games” with him, Kurginyan noted. He recalled that Trump recently declared Ukraine’s need to recapture all its territory.
“But if there’s even a grain of seriousness in all of this, why should Russia, on the one hand, call him its desirable dialogue partner, and on the other hand, brand him insane? He’s neither one nor the other. Though he did say that Ukraine must recapture all its territory. Did he say that? And by what means? And at what expense?” the expert added.
The political scientist also noted that one should not hope that Russia will ever have its seized gold and foreign investment assets back, recalling that they had been kept in Western banks before, even during the Soviet era; it is just that no one ever thought such a dirty trick would be played. He described Western elites as “sophisticated gangsters” and expressed confidence that they would find a way to break financial rules if necessary.
“So, they’ll give back the money? They took the money and are going to give it back? They’ll never give it back! This is a civilization that built itself on robbery and lives by robbery. It will never give back the money. That is obvious. [Someone says that] ‘this will violate global financial rules…’ Well, they will find a way to do it anyway. They’ll demonize Russia so much that it will be possible to violate any rules. What are we talking about?” the philosopher explained.
According to the political scientist, a merciless war has been declared on Russia, and the new US administration will finance Ukraine even more heavily than the previous US President Joe Biden. Trump is “much more active” compared to Biden, and he will act quicker against Russia.
Kurginyan noted that the most dangerous militarists hide behind the guise of peacekeepers. He explained this phenomenon through Hegel’s thoughts about “perverted forms,” where form is needed to conceal the content. Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand, a French politician and diplomat who served as foreign minister under three regimes, said that language is given to man to conceal his real thoughts. The leader of the Essence of Time movement explained that, in fact, language is given to diplomats to conceal their thoughts.
“A word was not given to conceal a thought. But the fundamental question is that the more this exotic character, not without a certain narcissistic charm and a certain mischievous spirit, talks about being a peacemaker, the more he will be willing to fight a war,” he said.
According to Kurginyan, Trump positions himself as a man who wants “peace and love in the world.” He wants to make peace with everyone, but on his terms, using force. Trump constantly boasts about how many countries he has made to “reconcile” their differences and how many more he will continue to appease. “He will be at the forefront of anti-Russian militarism. He is not going to mumble like Biden,” the politician explained.
“No, ‘[Biden] was bad!’ So here comes a Christian, a Christian Zionist, or a Christian nationalist — whoever — and he will wage war. That’s who will wage war with Russia,” the Essence of Time leader stated.
