The confrontation between the West and Russia will soon dramatically escalate because US President Donald Trump will become involved in this process; therefore, in order to withstand increased pressure, our country needs qualitative changes in its society, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on October 3 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
According to Kurginyan, Russia and the USA have no ground to reach any strategic agreements. Trump’s policy has a number of constants that he cannot reject, i.e. confrontation against China and Iran. Russia, under any government, will neither spoil its relations with China nor combat it for the sake of US’ interests. The same applies to Iran. Under no circumstances Russia will leave Iran, Kurginyan believes. Since no agreements the US wants will be reached, pressure on Russia will grow.
“In the near future they will attack us much more with Trump than they did before. Everything will escalate. We can see all the signs of growing threat. It will not end up with Tomahawks. It will be much more serious – in the Baltic region, in Moldavia, and, which is the worst, in the south. Hopefully, our diplomats and top officials will reduce the pressure to the minimum and find reasonable solutions, including some compromises. But I am afraid this will not happen,” the political scientist noted.
He added that Russia currently manages its governance relatively well. “Thank God, shells go to the frontline, the million-strong contingent is controllable rather than falling apart, it somehow holds out, the Russians are getting accustomed to the war, and illusions of an easy victory are gone,” the leader of Essence of Time explained.
However, if pressure grows due to new challenges, our country will face a fundamentally more complicated problem than just keeping control, i.e. the problem of qualitative changes in our society.
“If it comes to much greater pressure, then the society must be changed. And it is not easy at all to change it. This is not a quick process. And we cannot change it unless we know how it functions inside. It was designed in certain way over decades, and the entire generation was exposed to certain indoctrination,” the political scientist concluded.
