The Iran–Israel conflict did not halt the progress of joint projects between Russia and Iran, said Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali on July 18, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“Joint projects between the two countries, as well as Iran’s forms of cooperation with other states, have no connection to the development of the regional situation,” Jalali stated.
He noted that Moscow and Tehran continued negotiations on the construction of the Resht–Astara railway (part of the North–South Transport Corridor) and other joint projects, even during the Iran–Israel conflict. According to the ambassador, this corridor is needed not only by Russia and Iran but also by other countries and regions.
On the night of June 13, Israel launched an operation against Iran, accusing it of pursuing a secret military-nuclear program. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes.
On June 22, US Air Force carried out strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Following this, the US president stated that Tehran must agree to end this war, warning that otherwise the consequences would be much more severe.
Subsequently, on June 23, Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire without a time limit, declaring it would be permanent.
