Kremlin responds to NATO threat to destroy Kaliningrad

18.07.2025, Moscow.

The threat of the physical destruction of Russia’s Kaliningrad Region, voiced by NATO General Chris Donahue, will be taken into account in the Russia-US dialogue, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov on July 18, as reported by TASS.

The Russian Presidential Press Secretary emphasized that such statements are becoming part of a broader trend of aggressive rhetoric from military officials in European countries. According to him, they reflect NATO’s hostile policy toward Russia and necessitate appropriate measures by Moscow to ensure its security.

“This is yet another statement in a series of hostile, aggressive remarks that we frequently hear from representatives of European defense agencies,” the presidential press secretary noted.

Earlier, US Army Europe and Africa Commander General Chris Donahue stated that NATO and its allies are capable of completely destroying the Kaliningrad region, as it is surrounded by NATO member states. He claimed they could “take that down from the ground in a timeframe that is unheard.”
