The grain exported by Ukraine under the Black Sea Initiative, which was originally presented as aid for developing countries, was actually sent to European Union states, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 17, according to the press service of the Russian Presidential Administration.
“It went to Europe,” he noted during a meeting with Andrey Guryev, president of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers, who recalled the 2022 agreement.
Russia suspended its participation in the agreement in July 2023, citing the Ukrainian regime’s use of the maritime corridors granted under the deal for carrying out terrorist attacks. Furthermore, the declared purpose of the deal — to help countries facing food shortages — turned out to be a cover for a commercial project by the Kiev regime to sell grain to developed countries, primarily in Europe.
Specifically, 38% of the grain exports went to Spain, while the poorest countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America received only 2.3% of the total volume, according to United Nations data.
