Iran will not abandon its uranium enrichment program under any circumstances, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on July 14 on his account on social media platform X.
He emphasized that Tehran has paid a high price for its capabilities in this area.
“There is no scenario under which we would forsake the patriots who brought this goal to life,” the diplomat stressed.
Araghchi declared that without a uranium enrichment program, there will be no nuclear deal. However, he noted that a deal remains possible without nuclear weapons.
The minister highlighted that only a few countries are capable of independently operating their nuclear reactors, which requires a robust industrial base and scientific-technological capacity. Iran, he said, has come a long way in this field and has no intention of forfeiting the advantages gained through its progress in nuclear technology.
Previously, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei emphasized that abandoning uranium enrichment would devalue past achievements and place the country in dependency on foreign suppliers.
Meanwhile, the United States insists that a nuclear deal requires Iran to completely give up uranium enrichment.
