Kurginyan: Russia waits frankness from Iran, too

03.07.2025, Moscow.

When Iran abandons its illusions about reconciliation with the West and offers “something honest” to Russia Moscow will respond, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on June 27 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.

Russia will never act beyond the framework of symmetric relations, Kurginyan noted. “We are very grateful to North Korea, it has gone a great length indeed,” he said to offer an example of cooperation.

The political scientist stressed that Russia is a country that keeps in its heart the memory of help it received in hard years “to convert this memory into practice.”

“Iran gave us a moderate and limited help. But not at all as North Korea did,” Sergey Kurginyan explained. He noted that Moscow is well aware of the British influence in Iran as well as “how exactly Iran would like to make a deal with the US.” Russia knows how complicated Iranian politics is.

“For example, their foreign minister visits us. Let them first get a little out of their desperate desire to make a deal with those with whom no deals are possible,” the political scientist described a possible scenario.

“As soon as they put something honest on the table we will respond,” he stressed.

Kurginyan noted that as long as Iran keeps to its idea that it can make a deal with the US Russia will “remain friendly and sign documents while remembering very well who killed the previous Iranian president.”

The political scientist explained that Moscow understands why it was done, i.e. “for the sake of anticipated deals with the US.”
