Russian Foreign Ministry: Descendants of Nazis are deliberately appointed to high-ranking positions in the West

30.06.2025, Moscow.

High-ranking positions in Western countries are deliberately being filled with descendants of Nazis, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova wrote on June 28 in her Telegram channel.

This statement was made in response to media reports about the ancestry of Blaise Metreweli, recently appointed as head of British intelligence agency MI6.

According to Western journalists, the grandfather of the newly appointed MI6 chief is possibly Ukrainian collaborator and war criminal Konstantin Dobrovolsky, who was involved in the mass extermination of Jews in Ukraine as part of SS punitive units.

“Someone is purposefully and consciously placing descendants of Nazis in leadership roles in the countries of the ‘collective West’,” Zakharova wrote, referring to already known cases of Nazi descendants among Western government officials.

She emphasized that the issue is not simply about having such ancestors, but about how current leaders relate to this legacy. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry representative, Metreveli should openly clarify her position regarding these “roots” rather than hiding behind press office excuses.
