An F-16 fighter jet crashed during a night flight, killing First Class Pilot Lieutenant Colonel Maxim Ustimenko of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to a report on the official Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force press service on June 29.
The agency reports that the Ukrainian Air Force has lost another American F-16 fighter jet along with its pilot.
The last time Ukraine acknowledged the loss of an F-16 was in mid-May. However, the pilot managed to escape at that time.
Ukraine received F-16 fighter jets from its allies in early August 2024. At that time, the media reported that Kyiv had received only 10 of the promised 76 aircraft.
