Chinese and Russian Foreign Ministries сomment on Ukrainian attack on Chinese journalists

27.06.2025, Beijing.

The Ukrainian attack on a group of Chinese journalists in Russia’s Kursk Region raised concerns in Beijing, stated Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on June 27, according to a press release from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was reported that the group of Chinese journalists was working in Kursk Region, preparing a report on local civilians when the attack occurred. A correspondent from Phoenix TV was injured.

“We are deeply concerned that a Chinese journalist was wounded during the report,” said Guo Jiakun.

According to the injured Chinese correspondent, Lu Yuguang, he was wearing clothing marked “Press” and holding a microphone while filming when the Ukrainian drone strike occurred.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also commented on the incident. She stated that the deliberate Ukrainian strike on a Chinese media group shows that the Kiev regime does not want foreign media to provide objective coverage of the special military operation. She further noted that such actions could be classified as terrorism.

Russia’s special military operation in Donbass began on the morning of February 24, 2022, following requests for assistance from the LPR and DPR amid increased Ukrainian military aggression. Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the operation’s objectives to be the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.

Western countries have sided with the Kiev regime and continue to supply it with weapons, ammunition, equipment, and intelligence.
