Russia’s SVR director: Russia believes Serbia will halt arms exports, but will verify

24.06.2025, Moscow.

Russia believes the statements by Serbian authorities about halting arms exports, but will verify the fulfillment of this promise, said the head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin on June 24 in a comment to TASS.

Naryshkin noted that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced Belgrade’s suspension of weapons exports.

When asked whether Moscow trusts this statement, Naryshkin replied, “We will check.”

On June 23, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service once again pointed out that Serbia has been supplying military products to the Kiev regime through indirect routes. Specifically, ammunition for heavy long-range systems is being shipped to NATO countries in kit form for assembly. This is done in the interest of the Ukrainian militants, and Serbian manufacturers are aware of this.

“For many centuries, a common faith united the Serbian and Russian peoples and spurred them to joint struggle against our enemies,” the SVR emphasized, expressing regret that the thirst for profit has been able to override the traditions of friendship.
