The combat power of the Russian Naval Infantry will increase following the transformation of marine brigades into divisions, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on June 23 during a meeting with graduates of military academies.
He noted that the naval infantry brigades will be expanded into divisions. After that, “their strike power and combat capabilities will increase significantly,” the president emphasized.
The president also added that this year, modernized Tu-160M strategic bombers will be incorporated into Russia’s nuclear triad.
The Russian Armed Forces currently have five marine brigades.
