17.05.2025, Beijing.

Russia and China share a common position on maintaining stability and development in Central Asia, stated Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on June 17 during a briefing.

The diplomat was asked whether the recent contacts between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and their discussions on security matters indicate that China intends to replace Russia by increasing its role in addressing these issues.

Guo Jiakun responded that “China and Russia are close friends and good partners of the Central Asian countries.” He emphasized that both countries have a common and firm stance on ensuring security and development in Central Asia.
