Russia is playing a diplomatic game with US President Donald Trump, because Russia needs Trump to distance himself from Ukraine, but this game does not imply any confrontation with China, said political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on May 16 during the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.
Analyzing the current international situation, Kurginyan pointed out several key factors: the US leader, who frequently emphasizes his ideological closeness to Christian Zionists, is simultaneously building strong ties with Gulf States. He is making billion-dollar deals, and Qatar even gifted Trump a jet — “a delightful toy for a small child”. At the same time, Trump is currently “focused on China.”
“”He is focused on China. He started his insane actions with all sorts of tariffs, a trade war, but within a month he backed off. He retreated because he understands that he cannot do anything to China using such methods.”
“So, all these complex arrangements [from Trump’s side] begin: now I’ll negotiate something with Xi Jinping; will Xi Jinping agree to treat the Russians in most terribly in exchange for some moderate preferences from us? Will ‘Chimerica’ be restored while we continue to pressure the Chinese?” Kurginyan outlines the situation.
The political analyst emphasized that the “US elite cannot but to pressure the Chinese” — its only alternative is to surrender to them. And the Anglo-Saxons don’t surrender in such situations, he says.
But Russia, Kurginyan is confident, will not act against China — Russia will have to build warm relations with China for a long time. And this is very good, since the US is trying to find countries that will fight China instead of it. At the same time, Russia should not become fully dependent on China, so restraint is necessary in Russia’s relations with it, the political analyst stressed.
“We will not side with others against China that won’t happen, although Trump is convinced — due to his very specific psychological traits — that he just has to wiggle his finger and everything will happen. But that reflects Trump’s mindset. <…> Naturally, we’re playing a diplomatic game with him, because we need him to distance himself from Ukraine. How possible that is, and so on, the future will show,” says Sergey Kurginyan.
The analyst concludes: at the moment, preparations for a world war are in full swing.
“We’re entering the age of wars, which is why all these maneuvers are taking place. And in the context of these maneuvers, Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow for Victory Day and Putin’s upcoming visit to the celebration of the victory over Japanese militarism — these are monumental events,” Kurginyan emphasized.
