Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated African leaders on Africa Day and confirmed desire to strengthen Russia-Africa relations, according to a congratulatory telegram published on the Kremlin website on May 25.
Putin sent the telegram to the leaders of African states and governments on the occasion of Africa Day, expressing confidence in the continued strengthening of cooperation between Russia and the countries of the continent. In his address, he highlighted the historical contribution of independent African nations to international politics and emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation within the African Union, which contributes to regional security and stability.
The leader of state underscored Russia’s commitment to expanding its partnership with African countries. The telegram also noted that a Russia-Africa Partnership Forum is planned to be held before the end of this year.
The day before, Putin also sent congratulations to the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, American Cardinal Robert Prevost.
