Kurginyan: We must remember heroism of Great Victory while realizing collapse

Recognizing the heroic heritage of our great Victory necessitates the recognition of the ideological and moral failure of the disintegration of our country in 1990s, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on April 29 on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio.

The political scientist stressed that our country must remember the heroism of the Great Patriotic War without turning a blind eye to the consequences of the spiritual and social decay.

“Our country can be either abnormal in this, Andropov’s, sense, and alive, or it can be normal. But dead. And we can see this. We can see this dormant condition, this low tonus. We can see this existence, although not without heroism,” Sergey Kurginyan said.

The leader of the Essence of Time movement noted that the Soviet army during World War Two astonished the world with its power, level of organization, and ability to advance, demonstrating an unbelievable spiritual power.

“We defeated Reich heroically. My father ended the war in Koenigsberg, and he returned to the civilian sector, but he had friends in the army. They invited, among others, East German military servicemen to visit us, and one of them said, ‘The Russians had three platoons for a number of kilometers, we understood that they were advancing. We understood that we must rebuff them, but they magically went in like a knife in the butter, they tore our defense apart, and they went further.’ This kind of a Russian soldier was what astonished the world,” Sergey Kurginyan told.

He added that the victory of the USSR became possible due to the mobilizing power of the Party, which managed to create “a great military machine for a major war.” Besides, the analyst points out the way the defeated Third Reich retreated.

“But we must look at the other side of the medal, too. We must look at how these SS servicemen, whom I hate, retreated in closed ranks, establishing laboratories, training centers, esoteric, adaptation of ideology, infiltration into the West, including America, i.e. a big project to seize America,” Sergey Kurginyan said.

He stressed that, unlike the consolidated retreat of the Reich forces, the Soviet elite in 1991, “figuratively speaking, mostly dissipated into firms, banks, countryside residences, throwing away their Party membership cards.”

The philosopher explained that our country needs to acknowledge both the heroism of the Soviet soldiers and the misery of the disintegration of the Soviet Union.

“Those who were born in the darkest years cannot remember their path. We are children of Russia’s terrible years, and we cannot forget anything,” Sergey Kurginyan quoted verses from Aleksandr Blok’s poem.

He expressed confidence that our country must keep the greatness of our Victory while making a profound ideological revision of the consequences of the collapse of the USSR.

“We need to find a way to keep the greatness while making a profound ideological revision of this garbage with burnt Party membership cards, without any attempts to enjoy a restoration, but in a manner to prepare our country to huge military troubles of the 21st century, if I am unfortunately right,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement concluded.
