Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the upcoming first Russia-Arab summit, according to a statement published on the Kremlin’s website on May 17.
In the message, issued in connection with the 34th Arab League Summit, Putin stated, “I would like to invite all the leaders of your organization’s member states, as well as the Secretary General of the League, to participate in the first Russia-Arab summit.”
In his address, the Russian president expressed confidence that the event would help strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and assist in the search for ways to ensure peace, security, and stability in the Middle East and North Africa.
The summit is scheduled to take place on October 15.
The 34th Arab League Summit at the head-of-state level is being held in Baghdad on May 17 under the leadership of Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid. The summit brings together the heads of state and government of the Arab League member countries.
