The USSR’s victory in the Great Patriotic War was an unprecedented and perhaps the main triumph of Man in world history and the greatest manifestation of humanism, philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said in his video address on May 9.
Kurginyan stressed that both what is celebrated and the context in which the celebration takes place are very important. He recalled that until recently, “all those who rejected the great Soviet project, simultaneously rejected the Victory as a part of this project – as its inseparable part, as its apotheosis, as, perhaps, the only absolute manifestation of its greatness.”
Myths were fabricated about the Great Patriotic War, many lies were told, the significance of the Victory was downplayed, and those who did this used both sarcasm and mockery. At that time, many politicians believed that Russia no longer faced the threat of a major war and that the country would live in peace.
But now the context has changed, Russia is fighting neo-Nazi Ukraine, backed by the collective West, and Russia has transitioned from the from the era of sarcasm and mockery in regards to the Victory to “an era of glorifying the true greatness of the victory of the Soviet people over the Nazi invaders, though with its bureaucratic approach, not devoid of glamour, problematic in some ways, nonetheless – this victory was the greatest manifestation of humanism and a certain triumph of Man, unprecedented, perhaps the most significant in the entire world history,” Kurginyan emphasized.
Drones are flying over Russia, so Russian residents can no longer perceive the war as something foreign to them.
“It is here. It has already come as it is. It is here now, and regardless of circumstances it won’t stop here. It will continue to escalate. We are entering a century of various kinds of wars, including major ones, and it must be discussed,” said Sergey Kurginyan.
In this context, one must not discuss irrefutable greatness of Victory and celebrate the Victory Day differently, not as “entertainment,” but with greater spiritual intensity.
