Russia and China will jointly defend the outcomes of Victory in World War II, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping stated on May 7 to China Central Television.
The Chinese President emphasized that Russia and China will jointly uphold the international system based on the United Nations and international law, as well as oppose hegemony and “power politics.”
In addition, Xi Jinping highlighted that both countries will “promote the construction of a more just and reasonable global governance system.”
On May 4, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that Russia and China will jointly preserve history and honor the memory of heroes who fell in the fight against fascism. The countries will “promote an accurate view of the history of World War II, defend the outcomes of victory in World War II and the postwar international order, as well as safeguard international justice and impartiality.”
Russian authorities announced that the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory will be attended by the leaders of China, India, Brazil, and CIS countries. The Kremlin confirmed that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Moscow and remain in the Russian capital from May 7 to 10.
