The First Ever “Immortal Regiment in the Sky” held in Russia

Russian Helicopters design and manufacturing company conducted the first-ever “Immortal Regiment in the Sky” — helicopters bearing portraits of pilots, Heros of the Soviet Union of the Great Patriotic War, flew in the skies over various regions of Russia, RIA Novosti ыфшв on May 6, citing a representative of the company.

“‘Immortal Regiment in the Sky’ is a project of the ‘Russian Helicopters’ holding of the Rostec State Corporation, and it is being conducted for the first time this year,” the corporation stated.

According to journalists, the campaign involved 15 helicopters (twelve Mi-8s, two Mi-38s, and one Mi-26), carrying portraits of 26 pilots, Heros of the Soviet Union from the Great Patriotic War.

Earlier, it was reported that about 1 million people are expected to participate in the Immortal Regiment march in St. Petersburg.

The Immortal Regiment in St. Petersburg will take place on May 9 both in-person and online. The march will begin at 14:00 and proceed along Nevsky Prospect from Vosstaniya Square to Palace Square. The planned duration of the event is one hour.
