The United Kingdom and Sweden will take part in military exercises in Finnish Lapland, the Finnish Defence Forces’ press service reported on May 5.
“The purpose of the exercises is to practice planning and conducting a multinational ground operation in the northern operational area, as well as to train the alliance’s joint use of firepower,” the press service stated.
According to journalists, around 6,500 personnel will be involved in the exercises, including 900 from Sweden and 350 from the United Kingdom.
Sweden plans to purchase four C-390 transport aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer Embraer.
Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson stated that the new aircraft will enhance Sweden’s defense capabilities.
