Russia will help Afghanistan to fight terrorists

02.05.2025, Kabul.

Russia will help the Taliban (organization banned in Russia) to fight terrorists from the group Wilayat Khorasan (belonging to the Afghan wing of the terrorist organization Islamic State, organization banned in Russia). Russian presidential special envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov told RIA Novosti on May 2.

We see and appreciate the efforts that the Taliban (organization banned in Russia) are making in the fight against Wilayat Khorasan, which professes the ultra-radical ideology of ‘global jihad.’ This group is a common enemy for Russia and Afghanistan, and we will do our best to assist the authorities of this country through our specialized institutions,” Kabulov said.

He believes that the Russian Supreme Court’s ruling to suspend restrictions on the Taliban (organization banned in Russia) removes all barriers to full-fledged cooperation between the countries. The final decision may be made, as expected, at the meeting of the Afghan ambassador with the leaders in Moscow.

Earlier it became clear that the leaders of the Taliban (organization banned in Russia) hope for the establishment of broad diplomatic and economic relations between Afghanistan and Russia. According to Zabihullah Mujahid, an official representative of the Taliban government (organization banned in Russia), the leaders believe that it is extremely important to remove restrictions on its activities in Russia.
