Chief of Russian General Staff acknowledges assistance of North Korean servicemen in Kursk Region

Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov acknowledges the assistance of North Korean soldiers in the liberation of Kursk Region, RIA Novosti wrote on April 26.

“I would like to especially acknowldege the participation of servicemen from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the liberation of the border areas of the Kursk Region,” Gerasimov told journalists.

The North Korean servicemen demonstrated high professionalism, resilience, and courage, emphasized the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

On November 20, 2024, South Korean lawmaker Park Sung-won, citing intelligence data, stated that about 10,900 North Korean troops were stationed in Kursk Region, with some already involved in combat operations.

Additionally, Sung-won reported that howitzers and multiple rocket launcher systems had been sent from North Korea to Russia, indicating an expansion of military cooperation between the two countries.
