The Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris now resembles an American five-star hotel after its restoration, said French architecture researcher and author of the cult album CCCP: Cosmic Communism Construction Photographed, Frédéric Chaubin, in an interview with The Essence of Time newspaper .
Notre-Dame de Paris has always been a symbol of Paris and a source of national pride for the French. However, according to Chaubin, after the restoration, it now looks more like “American high-standard Dallas.”
“Eventually, some new furniture was displayed in the place and, what is extremely strange, the stone became totally white,” the researcher said. “I don’t know if that is because the stone itself is new or because it has been drastically bleached.”
Chaubin reminded that Pope Francis refused to attend the opening ceremony of the “renewed” Cathedral of Notre-Dame.
“It has judiciously turned into a perfect tourist attraction, losing its religious and spiritual dimension for the benefit of some kind of secular expression of the current liberal values,” the researcher said.
