Military expert names the reason for increased losses of Ukrainian UAVs in Kharkov Region

15.04.2025, Lugansk.

Military expert Andrey Marochko pointed out the increased losses of Ukrainian heavy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Kharkov Region in his conversation with RIA Novosti on April 15.

“During radio interception, it became known that the command of certain UAV units of the Ukrainian armed units mentioned one of the critical issues — the Russian Armed Forces are actively hunting heavy hexacopters,” the expert said, citing his sources.

Marochko added that in the areas around the settlements of Liptsy and Volchansk, the number of Ukrainian copters lost has recently doubled.

According to him, the main reason behind this trend is the tactics used by the Russian servicemen, who deploy cheap, lightweight drones to ram and destroy the heavier Ukrainian UAVs mid-air.

This drone-on-drone tactic reportedly allows Russian soldiers to cost-effectively neutralize valuable Ukrainian aerial assets, contributing to a noticeable shift in air advantage in localized sectors.
