Russia’s defense industry has not only expanded arms production since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine but has also significantly enhanced the capabilities of its military equipment, stated Sergey Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), on April 1 during a roundtable discussion on the contributions of Soviet scientists to victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“Faced with external aggression from the odious NATO bloc, our country has managed not only to increase production of in-demand weapons but also to substantially improve their performance,” he said.

Naryshkin also spoke at the opening of an exhibition at the Russian Historical Society dedicated to scientists’ contributions to defense. He noted that during the Great Patriotic War, the entire nation worked toward military needs, striving to secure victory, and today, hundreds of teams across Russia operate on the same principle.

“Times change, but talent, cohesion, and the desire to contribute to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities and ensuring its security remain the same,” emphasized the SVR director.

He also thanked the Russian Society of Inventors and all those who assisted in organizing the exhibition.
