Russian Investigative Committee: Foreign intelligence agencies organized terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall

Intelligence agencies of an unfriendly state planned the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall with the aim of destabilizing the situation in Russia, stated Svetlana Petrenko, official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee, during a briefing on March 22.

Six individuals – originating from Central Asia and currently outside Russia – have been arrested in absentia and declared wanted on charges of organizing the terrorist attack. According to Petrenko, they recruited and organized the training of the direct perpetrators of the crime: Dalerjon Mirzoyev (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia), Muhammadsobir Fayzov (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia), Shamsidin Fariduni (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia), and Saidkrami Rachabalizoda (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia).

Nineteen individuals have been arrested and briefed om the charges against them. Investigative actions regarding them have been completed. Several others remain are still wanted.

On the evening of March 22, 2024, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported a shooting and fire at the Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow. According to some reports, an explosion occurred in the building, followed by a fire. Witnesses stated that automatic gunfire was heard inside the building.

As a result of the terrorist attack, 145 people were killed, and 551 were injured.

The suspects in the terrorist attack were detained in Bryansk Region while attempting to flee to Ukraine. According to Russian President Putin, a so-called “window” had been prepared for them there.

The detainees were originally from Tajikistan. Their relatives were interrogated in Dushanbe.
