Russian servicemen who returned from Ukrainian captivity will be provided with the necessary support and care, Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova said in her Telegram channel on March 19.
The Russian Defence Ministry said earlier that 175 Russian servicemen had returned home as a result of negotiations with the Ukrainian side. As part of the exchange, Russia handed over 175 prisoners of war to Ukraine, as well as 22 additional prisoners with serious wounds as a goodwill gesture.
Tatyana Moskalkova emphasized that the work to support the released continues and that the state will not leave them without attention. “Each released defender is a story full of pain and joy, hopes and worries… Our task is not to leave them alone with worries and problems,” she wrote.
The ombudsman also expressed gratitude to the Russian Defense Ministry and special services for organizing the exchange and noted that the military confirmed the receipt of parcels and letters given to them during the humanitarian event.
