An interceptor drone reached a speed of 318 kilometers per hour during tests in Zaporozhye Region, stated the head of the development team with the call sign “Chapay,” RIA Novosti said on March 15.
“The drone moved at the speed of a Formula 1 race car,” said Chapay.
The serviceman noted that this UAV was created to counter aircraft-type drones that could attack critical infrastructure in the rear areas of Russia.
The drone has been named “Rita.” It is equipped with a warhead. The developers plan to create a version with automatic target acquisition.
The enemy has long been developing drones used in air defense (AD). There are videos online showing similar drones hitting reconnaissance aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces. Similarly, the Russian Armed Forces use FPV drones to counter reconnaissance and strike Ukrainian UAVs.
