Kurginyan explains the meaning of scandalous talks between Zelensky and Trump

The talks between US President Donald Trump and the head of Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky were a political spectacle that “united Trump’s show and Kvartal 95,” political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on March 7 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio.

Kurginyan noted that when discussing Zelensky’s talks with Trump and Vice President JD Vance, one should “really carefully listen to those who are speaking.” He emphasized that it is necessary to see people, understand their biographies and hear what they actually say, grasping certain things from the stream of their speech.

“Trump said everything himself, so, gentlemen analysts who want to understand something – this or that way but they should listen to Trump. And Trump said, ‘You! You don’t have the cards! What the hell are you doing! Obey or I’ll show you! Can I be tough or not?!’’ – he looked at Vance, I think, and said, ‘Great television’. And everyone heard it,” Essence of Time’s leader explained.

Sergey Kurginyan explained that the US president is “a leader of a new type,” but he is also a showman, a professional one. Trump would never have succeeded in becoming the country’s leader if he had not been such a showman.

At the same time, the analyst noted, the other party to the negotiations – Zelensky – is a former member of Kvartal 95 Studio [Ukrainian television entertainment production company – translator’s note] and, as Trump himself calls him, “a modestly successful comedian.” So, according to the political analyst, “Trump’s show and Kvartal 95 united.”

Essence of Time’s leader noted that on one level there is an obvious political spectacle, the participants of which play their roles, “to make good television, and directly say it on the air to an audience which does not understand: is this a world war? These people are told: ‘Great television‘.”

Sergey Kurginyan pointed out that show, publicity and television are specific features of US politics and have played a huge role in it for a very long time. According to him, this roots back to the Roman Senate, then to the French National Convention, where speeches played a significant role.

In the French National Convention, “Danton and Robespierre competed in political eloquence,” then such speeches became were characteristic throughout the history of the jury trial, “where it matters exactly how you speak and how you impress people; of parliaments, though in Russia they were once oddly declared ‘not a place for discussions,’ but the parliaments are supposed to be only for discussion, nothing else.” “This is the culture of universities, educational institutions in general, where public speeches are read all the time, where acting skills are considered a separate profession and the like,” the political scientist specified.

Kurginyan added that in the USA, such public speeches are always given very high importance. According to him, within the framework of this culture, it is mandatory to show eloquence, to impress people – even in cases when some issues have already been actually resolved.

“But Trump has perfected this culture. As did Zelensky, by the way. Because everything has turned into some kind of shows. The question is not whether these shows are bloody or not – that’s a separate issue. But it has been certainly turned into these shows,” Essence of Time’s leader concluded.
