The world is on the verge of choosing its path; its movement can be directed from Man to a post-human, and the COVID pandemic demonstrated the availability of means to do that, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on January 30 in an interview to channel BelTA.
Kurginyan noted that after the pandemic situation, no one in the world, including antivaxers, has comprehended the scope of the “COVID insanity.” The society has not understood what is taking place and what its goals are.
“It is a sort of a delusion of the past: it remains unclear whether it was really that bad and the vaccinations were necessary, or it was all made up, or some interested motives were involved. But it was a huge action,”the philosopher believes.
The political scientist explained that there is a lack of understanding of where COVID has led the world and how this situation has split the Western elite.
Kurginyan reminded that German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche looked for a way out of the dead end of human development addressing to a super-human, and then feeble racial experiments by Britain, the US, and doctor Mengele followed.
Today, in contrast, according to the philosopher, a line has been strictly drawn, which shows, “These are humans, and these are post-humans. And we possess scientific capabilities to accomplish this. And we will proceed with this from here to here.”
Kurginyan illustrated his prediction with a poem from brothers Strugatsky’s story:
“The beasts were standing
At the door,
They were shot,
And they died.”
Kurginyan believes that the pandemic gave an instrumental, technical, feasible quality to the “human – post-human” problem. And the new condition that the world acquired after the division into a human and a post-human territories has not yet been recognized and understood.
“Trump, of course, stands for Man. As all conservatives do,” the political scientist explained. They to not welcome a transition to that kind of a new world, but some part of the elite, mostly the Democrats, will want to go to this post-human side. Thus, according to Kurginyan, two visions of the future appear.
The political scientist noted that even the ugliest conservative view can imply a reduction of the number of people, e.g. “there will be two billion, not eight.”
“There will be nice clean air, we will clean up the seas little by little, the animals will feel fine, and we will be walking, looking at the animals, hunting them, and we will divide into real, so to say, ladies wearing crinolines and men wearing pith helmets and some bowing aborigines,” the political scientist described the “conservative idyll.”
Nevertheless, the philosopher notes, the human quality and the unity of species Homo sapiens will not be ultimately questioned. And the other group, whom the world could watch during the pandemic, is communicating a different message.
“We do not need half the billion or one billion people. We need fifty billion. Fifty! But subservient ones. And we despise all your objectives. We need something absolutely different,” this is the way the “pandemic group” thinks, according to Kurginyan.
Thus, the philosopher believes, a problem of the end of times hovers over America, the whole world, and the elites in this situation. And it has been already understood deep in the Russian countryside, i.e. an idea that the future is expected to be “bad, and even worse than the present, and then it will become still worse.”
