Kurginyan: Republicans want a military coup in Russia every time they come to power

04.03.2025, Moscow.

Whenever the Republicans come to power in the US they attempt a coup d’etat in Russia to ensure its confederative dismemberment, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on January 30 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.

The analyst indicated that Trump cannot be called a neo-conservative in spite of the fact that his team includes a billionaire of South African origin, Vice-president James David Vance, and other persons who do not perfectly match the criteria of the conservative America.

“Trump is better than neo-conservatives. It is not that he is a palaeo-conservative, he is a strange kind of a conservative. He is better, and he is more humane,” the political scientist explained.

However, Kurginyan indicated, throughout the post-Soviet period, whenever the republicans came to power Russia was in danger. “When the Republicans begin their maneuvers here it is always about a military coup in Russia. If on November 7, 1992 Bush had come again instead of Clinton, a coup would have happened,” he noted.

Sergey Kurginyan reminded that in Russia the US conservatives wanted to destroy “those they call Marxists, i.e. communists, and those whom they call, I am sorry, Jews, i.e. liberals at the same time,” and they also wanted a military dictatorship “and, as a mandatory fifth paragraph, a confederation.”

According to him, the Republicans demanded that Russia should have transformed into a confederation in 1992 and in October 1993, as well as in 1996 with General Aleksandr Lebed, the political scientist listed.

“All my life I can see the Republicans instigating coups to stop evil forces torturing Russia. It does not matter how it is called. Names make no difference, they change all the time. The idea remains the same,” Kurginyan said.

According to him, in this context we should ask Russia’s ruling class, our leader, and our military corporation: can they potentially admit this kind of a confederation? “Because this would mean a disintegration and total elimination of the Russian people. And why do we need an army then? What are we talking about?” the analyst posed the questions.

He indicated that this is a very dangerous temptation, even if it goes in a slightly different manner with Trump. Besides, we can see certain provocations by some envoys saying, “You should escalate it to the full with Article 5, and then it will resolve in a way.”“But what if it fails to resolve? They do not offer any guarantees at all,” Kurginyan stressed.
