Halting US military aid to Ukraine will not be easy, as President Donald Trump cannot make such a decision unilaterally, Professor Aleksandr Gusev from the Russian Academy of Sciences stated on March 3, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“It is important to consider that the decision to support Ukraine was made not only by Biden and his administration but also by the US Congress. Stopping this aid is a long-term process that requires approval from both the US Senate and Congress. That’s why Trump said that military aid to Ukraine would continue until the end of May – because the process of stopping it takes time,” the expert explained.
According to Gusev, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky showed the world that he is unwilling to seek a compromise.
Commenting on Zelensky’s behavior during negotiations with Trump, Gusev noted that the Ukrainian leader not only violated diplomatic protocols but “he also acted rudely.”
