The Western politicians look at the situation around Russia and Ukraine like at a piece of the political game, while for our country it is a matter of survival and national security, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on January 30 in an interview to channel BelTA.
“Because he promised to properly stall the Russians within one hundred days, he cannot really turn aside with the Russians now. But maybe he can. Maybe he can say, ‘I offered the Russians everything. I love them. But this crazy Putin refuses, so I have to take a harder line.’ But… They are not just for a crowd scene in Trump’s performance,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
The political scientist stressed that the approach when the West first instigates an escalation and then it proposes negotiations can result in a catastrophe, and the proposal to cross the “red lines” is a step towards a nuclear conflict.
“One of his representatives told our leader, ‘You should put real pressure, go beyond the red lines, and then start to negotiate.’ Really? This is a call for a nuclear war!” Sergey Kurginyan said.
The analyst noted that Russia began the SMO for a reason, and it will not allow Ukraine to become part of NATO with nuclear assault weapons deployed in Kharkov. He also expressed doubt in the stability of the US policy indicating that the change of the leader can result in a revision of any agreements, which makes the situation even more difficult to predict.
“What kind of a fundamental legitimate resolution can we talk about if no one really cares for this legitimacy? What do you mean? A new president comes, and he puts the game upside down. Will we remain victims of this upside down? It will definitely not go smoothly. For you it is a show, but for us it is our destiny,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
The leader of the Essence of Time movement indicated that further events will be complicated, and they will result in a clear definition of the “red lines.”
“My prediction is that it will not go quite smoothly. The devil is in the details. And then the red lines will be drawn clearly, very clearly!” Kurginyan concluded.
