Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova: Western Europe will not be able to exist without Russia

16.02.2025, Moscow.

The West should understand that Russia plays a key role in the European system of international relations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in her Telegram channel in response to the results of the Munich Security Conference on February 16.

Zakharova drew attention to the statement of Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who characterized the Munich conference as a “diplomatic cacophony” and stressed the need for Europe to take more responsibility.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman recalled that the so-called European Concert – a system of international relations in which Russia played a key role – functioned in the 19th century.

She said that Western Europe should realize that “there is no Europe without Russia” and that Russia preserves the true values lost by Western European countries. Otherwise, she said, there will be only discord instead of harmony.
