The relationship between Iran and China has a long history and is deeply rooted in culture, stated Hossein Darvishi, Consul General of Iran in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, on February 12, as reported by the Mehr news agency.
The Iranian diplomat spoke at an event commemorating the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. He addressed issues of bilateral relations between Tehran and Beijing.
“In recent years, the two longstanding Asian partners have entered a new era of strategic interaction within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership,” said Darvishi. According to him, the joint activities of Iran and China are based “on shared values of mutual respect, equality, and peace,” and Tehran is firmly committed to developing “long-term and comprehensive cooperation” with Beijing.
“This partnership not only strengthens our historical friendship but also opens new horizons for stable and sustainable cooperation between our countries,” the diplomat added.
In 2021, China and Iran signed a 25-year Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement. The agreement covers cooperation in 20 areas, including political collaboration, executive-level interaction, joint activities in cultural and legal spheres, security, as well as regional and international issues.
