Integrating Taiwan into China would be organic, but “a pro-American hellhole” that has formed on the island is against it, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on January 10 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.
“The problem of Taiwan is that it has become infested with American fleas. It is a hotbed for American fleas. Over the time when they had to defend against China, a hellhole formed there,” he said.
According to Kurginyan, the Kuomingtang Party, which is one of the major political actors in Taiwan today, also dreams about getting rid of the US influence. If it is equalized with the Communist Party of China, the integration of the island into the CPR will go smoothly, because there are Chinese at both sides.
The political scientist reminded that the disagreement between these two political powers appeared because the Kuomingtang’s goal is a Chinese Modernity while the Communist Party of China pursues the Maoist policy. There was a great difference, including the economic systems were China nationalized all the industry.
“But later in the People’s Republic of China everything that Kuomingtang dreamed about appeared, i.e. private ownership. They refuse to have a multi-party system? Kuomingtang refused, too! This was a concession to the USA,” Kurginyan noted.
He stressed that if China annexes Taiwan it would not be an act of imperialism or colonialism of Beijing; it would be an irredenta, because it would reunite territories where the same people live.
“If Taiwan integrates into China, which has already become number one, it would be another leap. Soon one would need a microscope to distinguish the USA,” the philosopher added.
Kurginyan noted that any enforced annexation of foreign people can entail negative consequences requiring a dictatorship and the deployment of security services on the seized lands because the population would resist. China encountered that when it annexed Tibet and the Xinjiang Uygur Region. But an irredenta is a reunion of the same people.
“It is similar to Donbass being our people. <…> Colonialism, figuratively, is when our tanks are in Lvov. But when they are on a complementary territory it is an irredenta. It is the restoration of the normal functioning of a great national state,” the political scientist said.
