Russia found nothing new in the threats of sanctions by US President Donald Trump. Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on January 23.
“We do not see any new elements here. You know that during his presidency, Trump was the US president who most often resorted to sanctions, he likes these methods, at least he liked them during his first presidency,” Peskov said.
He emphasized that Russia is very closely following all the US rhetoric and is carefully recording the nuances.
Peskov noted that Russia remains ready “for an equal and mutually respectful dialog” that “took place between the two presidents” during Trump’s first term.
On January 10, the US Finance Ministry imposed the most extensive sanctions against the energy sector of Russia. The list included more than 30 Russian oilfield service companies, including the largest Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz, as well as more than 180 ships carrying Russian oil.
