The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) thwarted a terrorist attack planned by Ukrainian security services involving toxic substances aimed at employees of a defense enterprise in Yaroslavl Region, RIA Novosti informed on January 14, citing the FSB.

A Russian citizen was detained for allegedly attempting to introduce poison into the air ducts of vehicles belonging to the intended victims.

The FSB stated, “A terrorist act planned by the Ukrainian security services using toxic chemical substances to poison employees of a defense-industrial enterprise in Yaroslavl Region has been prevented.”

The Russian citizen had retrieved two containers of hazardous chemicals from a cache created by Ukrainian intelligence. The chemicals were capable of causing severe respiratory burns, potentially leading to fatal outcomes. The suspect intended to pour the substances into the air ducts of employees’ vehicles.

It was noted that the individual coordinated his actions from Ukrainian territory via foreign internet messengers. This was confirmed through information found on the communication devices seized from him.
