Kurginyan: The attempt to establish a pirate kingdom in place of the USSR has failed

The Russian political establishment has not repented, apologized, comprehended, and produced a deep truth about the senselessness of its rejection of the great Soviet project despite the obvious failure of the attempt to establish a capitalist “pirate kingdom,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on December 31 in his New Year address.

According to the political scientist, the current Russian political actor has not come to repentance, apologies, and comprehension that the disintegration of the country was something stupid and disgusting.

“Stupid, because the People’s Republic of China, which refused to do so, has become number one power on the globe. And we are now China’s younger brother, not elder one. Disgusting, because even if what had been done was absolutely worthless, although it was definitely not, it must not be disposed of like a used condom after so much blood was shed and such a great sacrifice was made for it. It is a sin. A sin before our dead ones,” Kurginyan said.

Speaking about the destruction of the Soviet project, according to the political scientist, we must answer the questions “for the sake of what we did it,” for the sake of what we rejected our imperial burden.

If the destruction of the system that had raised the country to an unprecedented level was necessary for the sake of the so-called integrationist capitalism, how was then our life supposed to develop on this kind of a basis?

“If you are building a capitalist project you need capitalists. But after 70 years of eradication of anything related to the primitive accumulation for a future capitalist development by any kind of private owners that took place elsewhere during a transition from feudalism to capitalism, who would be those capitalists after you reject all that?” the political scientist asked.

Within the Soviet system, any accumulation could only be made by underground business owners at best, “and at worst by bandits’ common fund or by some kind of structures affiliated with the security services, which are even more illegal than this bandits’ common fund.” With this kind of initial capital, Kurginyan concludes, the country obviously moved towards “a pirate kingdom, with all the related further troubles on this path.”

We must acknowledge that those who came to power “were not like the Morozov or the Ryabushinsky families [outstanding entrepreneurs in the Russian Empire – Rossa Primavera News Agency],” Kurginyan says.
