The Russian Group of Forces Zapad eliminated up to 580 Ukrainian militants and destroyed a significant amount of military equipment in one day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on January 7.
“Units of the Group of Forces Zapad improved their positions along the frontline… Enemy losses amounted to up to 580 personnel,” the statement reads.
The group reportedly destroyed 12 vehicles, an Italian Iveco armored vehicle, and a 105 mm Melara Mod 56 howitzer. Additionally, a German-made 155 mm Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery system was destroyed.
Other destroyed equipment included a Soviet 122 mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and three D-30 122 mm howitzers. US-made equipment destroyed included an M113 armored personnel carrier, two 155 mm M777 howitzers, two 155 mm M198 howitzers, and a 105 mm M119 gun.
