Before New Year’s Eve, Russian soldiers liberated the town of Kurakhovo, war correspondent Yury Kotyonok said in his Telegram channel on January 1.
“The town is ours. In general, the town has been liberated. The clearing is underway,” he wrote.
Kotyonok explained that Russian army units were clearing the town’s neighborhoods from the remaining Ukrainian fighters who were unable to leave the town before being encircled.
It should be noted that The New York Times reported in its January 1 edition that the loss of Kurakhovo could open the way for the Russian army to Ukraine’s largest industrial areas.
