The retention of Russian military bases in Syria depends on the interests Moscow may share with the forces that have come to power in the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during a live broadcast combined with a press conference on December 19.
“Whether Russian military bases will remain in Syria depends on the alignment of interests with the new authorities of the republic,” noted Putin.
